For almost 3 decades Tangentyere Design has been involved in developing culturally appropriate community facilities for Aboriginal Australians in Alice Springs and throughout the Central Desert region. From its beginnings in the 1970s the practice has been responsible for a range of community health buildings, recreation halls, childcare, playgroup and youth centres.
Recent work has included design, documentation, construction administration and feasibility studies for a number of community buildings on the Alice Springs Town Camps, including Hidden Valley, Abbott’s Camp, Larapinta Valley and Karnte Camp community centres.
Tangentyere Design is currently completing the design and documentation of a Catholic Chapel for the Ngkarte Mikwekenhe Community in Alice Springs.
